How to Add a Firewall Rule to Allow SSH Access

If you're managing a server through Sive.Host, it's crucial to ensure that SSH access (port 22) is allowed through the firewall. SSH is the protocol that lets you securely connect to your server’s command line from anywhere.

Why Allow SSH?

SSH (Secure Shell) is commonly used to:

  • Administer your server remotely
  • Run secure command-line operations
  • Transfer files securely using SFTP

If the firewall blocks port 22, you won’t be able to access the server via SSH — even if the SSH service is running.

Here's a simple step-by-step guide to adding a firewall rule to allow SSH traffic.

Steps to Add an SSH Firewall Rule

1. Log in to your Sive.Host Client Area
Go to: https://sive.host/clientarea.php
Use your credentials to sign in.

2. Go to "My Products & Services"

Click on Services to be redirected to the product management page.
